When planning their engagement session, Lauren and Troy said they didn’t mind doing their session during winter, however, after their session they may have wished they did it in a warmer month! So we decided to head to Newport for a winter engagement session.
We started by meeting for a drink at Bar ‘Cino in Newport! If couples are comfortable with it, I like to try and meet up for a pre-session drink. It breaks the ice, we can talk about other things besides photos/wedding stuff and a little liquid courage never hurt anyone!
And a little secret, I found this first street on google maps! It was going to be cold for our session, so walking around before our session to explore did not sound fun. I asked Lauren and Troy what they had in mind for their session. The first things they said were maybe some brick and a coffee shop they had been to before! As soon as I heard brick, I knew the street I had found on google maps would be perfect!
From here, we headed to the wharf area of Newport, which in the off season was completely empty and it was amazing! They had been to the Coffee Grinder before and we popped in there to warm up. We also grabbed some warm drinks so we could finish the session. Not to mention the owner of the coffee shop was super nice!
After warming up with some coffee, we headed to our cars to drive over to the cliff walk. Here we finished our session at sundown. These two climbed up and down massive rocks like champs! They even snapped a photo for another couple at Forty Steps who was enjoying the sunset!
If you are looking to avoid the insane crowds of Newport, consider doing a winter engagement session. You will have to dress warmer, but the empty streets will be worth it!
