Jackie and Brett drove ninety minutes to meet me for a windy couples session at Fort Wetherill in Jamestown. Luckily the sun was out which provided some warmth and honestly, the wind was pretty perfect in terms of the movement is gave Jackie’s hair!
I let these two know that I would be approaching their session a bit differently. I recently invested in some education as a business owner in order to continue to serve my couples better. And what it lead me to is to approach my sessions completely different. I found myself in an endless cycle of prompting my couples in order to get laughter and emotion. I felt like I was having to almost entertain my couples during our session and keep them doing all of these movements throughout our session. But what I didn’t realize is these prompt and gentle poses I was asking my couples to do, may not relate to who they truly are as a couple.
So my focus is shifting for how I photograph the couples I work with. My sessions will be a little longer, slower pace and allow time for my couples to just be themselves. And I couldn’t be more excited for it!
Jackie and Brett had never been to Fort Wetherill, but love Rhode Island so I told them to explore! We walked around the Moonrise Kingdom beach, climbed some cliffs and it was an absolutely beautiful night for a couples session at Fort Wetherill.
